American Golf Fans Act Like Buffoons at Ryder Cup, Europeans Get the Last Laugh
If you thought Americans who attend golf events were always quiet, well-mannered and definitely not the loud and rude stereotypes Europeans have set for us…you may want to think again after this year’s Ryder Cup.
Over the weekend, the Ryder Cup took place at Bethpage Black on Long Island where the U.S. crowd was caught doing everything but winning the cup.
Already setting the tone for chaos, the U.S. crowd had to do “chant rehearsals” which turned out pretty corny, pretty embarrassing, and even ended with one MC, comedian Heather McMahan to be relieved of her duties for directing a chant saying, “F you, Rory.”
From there, U.S. fans had their sights set on Rory McIlroy as he endured nonstop heckling from personal jabs and taunts to drinks being thrown at him and his wife. Eventually, he did snap, telling folks to “shut the f**k” up before hitting and refusing to putt at another hole until the crowd simmered down.
Team Europe had the last laugh in the end, though, as they retained and raised the Ryder Cup yet again.
