This 1980’s Anti-Communist Commercial Traumatized a Generation in San Francisco
We’ve all seen a random commercial before that made you stop and think “did they really just…?”
Back in 1983, as the Cold War waged on, children in San Francisco had the “traumatic” displeasure of seeing an anti-communist commercial featuring Santa Claus being BLOWN TO BITS.
Apparently, the spot was to promote a special report titled “Green Street Reds” for the KGO, a San Francisco ABC affiliate.
Nevertheless, parents were furious as they flooded the station’s phone lines to complain on behalf of their terrified children.
Did you see this as a child? What did you do or what would you have done if you did?
