Big 12 Unveils All LED Basketball Floor

For well over 100 years, basketball teams have been running, dribbling, passing and shooting from a wooden court.  Sure, there have been some exceptions off of tile, concrete or even carpet and various elementary schools or rec centers or prison courtyards, but generally, it’s been a hardwood floor.

Now, just in time for the conference tournament, the Big 12 has introduced a playing surface made entirely of LEDs.  Well, specifically glass that’s backlit by LEDs.  They’re essentially going to be playing on a giant television and everything on the court will be produced from light.

The logos, the foul line, the paint, the arc…all of it.  No cure for cancer, yet, but illuminated fireworks can now be shown under the huge shoes of a player who sinks a pivotal 3!
