Yes, you read that right. At least three wildfires in Colorado this summer have been blamed on flaming bird carcasses.
Sure, you see birds on powerlines all the time, but scientists in Colorado have been studying how exactly it happens when birds catch fire after being electrocuted by power lines.
“Sometimes they burst into flames. Sometimes they just fall dead,” biologist Taylor Barnes said. “Not every bird that is electrocuted with fall to the ground and start a fire.”
Hopefully they can get this totally random science down before the next fire.
