Unless you live under a rock, you know the Conclave selected the new Pope last week, Chicago’s own Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, now known as Pope Leo XIV.
Of course, in true American fashion, Chicago-area businesses and brands have tried to cash in on the POPE-ular news by unveiling various Pope-themed products.
If you know anything about Chicago cuisine, you know about Portillo’s and they are celebrating Italian Beef Month as well as Pope Leo by blessing us with “The Leo,” a gloriously messy Italian beef sandwich featuring a holy trinity of peppers and baptized in gravy.
The sandwich will be available throughout the month of May for you to party like Free Beer does for Papal elections.
