World Stone Skimming Championships Rocked by Cheating Scandal

In case you thought you were a rock-skipping pro, these competitors would give you a run for your money as you can make it to a small, Scottish island and aren’t cheating with performance-enhanced pebbles!

Yes, the World Stone Skimming Championships are a thing and like any sport, it is subject to scandal.

Turns out, instead of finding naturally-shaped skipping stones, some cheaters were caught sanding and shaping their stones for better skimmage. It’s basically equivalent to doping in the rock-skimming world.

While the culprits confessed and were disqualified, officials are now considering handing out pre-approved stones so no one shows up with suspiciously aerodynamic rocks ever again.
