Ed Bambas is an 88-year-old veteran in Brighton, Michigan found himself becoming a social media superstar after a video of him working the checkout at his local Meijer store went viral on TikTok.

The internet’s new adopted grandpa had already retired once but after losing his GM pension paired with bills piling up due to his wife’s long illness, he returned to work with his flip phone and a can-do attitude.

Despite him rocking a flip phone and having no clue what TikTok is, thousands around the world saw him and are now pitching in to help him finally kick back, relax, and enjoy a peaceful checkout lane after a long, heroic career.
